Cupid’s Helpers

Cupid has grown weary of their duties in the modern age. Human love has grown more complicated, more demanding: The pettiness of young love, the minutia of breakups, the discomfort of sexual incompatibility, and tedium of sustained romance that either bitters or dies. Anything that isn’t steeped in pure infatuation is uninteresting to cupid. The Goddess of love is spread too thin, so they have created helpers to handle undesirable tasks. Though fearing their helpers would grow too powerful and infringe on Cupid’s role, they have deprived their creations of the ability to inflict actual change. Instead, these bodies must heed the wishes of their human patrons through tricks and sweet words. But some crave the power to do more…
